What Does ‘Yinkahdinay’ Mean?

One of the neat features of WordPress is that you can track how people get to your blog.  I noticed that someone recently arrived here searching for the answer to the question, “What does Yinkahdinay mean?”  An answer will be hard to come by, partly because the word is spelled phonetically.  Its proper spelling is “Yinkadene,” or “Yinka Dene,” but I changed it to ‘Yinkahdinay’ because too many people were pronouncing it “Yinka-dean.”

Anyway, the word comes from Babine (or Northern Carrier).  It means something like  “native language,” although it can also refer to a native person.
