As I’m reading through Karlo Janssen’s dissertation, it becomes clear that the situation among Reformed churches in the mid-19th century was convoluted.  There were several different schools of thought and sometimes they’re difficult to distinguish.  Thankfully, Janssen helps out with clear diagrams such as this one:
