Last week Friday we arrived safely in our new city of Hamilton.  I say “new,” but it’s just a change of scenery.  We lived here from 1996-2000, so the surroundings are very familiar, as are many of the people.

It’s good to be here.  The new manse is spacious and has been fixed up beautifully by our new congregation.  When we moved in on Saturday, groceries were waiting for us in the fridge and in the cupboards — a nice touch and much appreciated.  The unloading took place smoothly and, with the help of many hands, was all done in less than an hour.  Then came the unpacking and that’s a bigger job, though we are getting close to the end as I write this.

What about my new study?  Right now it’s nothing to snap a picture of.  The shelves are still on their way so all my books are still in boxes and things are quite a mess.  It’s a large study, definitely the largest I’ve ever had.  There’s lots of room for work space, but also for meeting with people.  When it’s all set up, I’ll take a few pictures and post them here.

Last Sunday we were warmly welcomed by our new congregation.  There was a coffee social after the morning service and that gave us an opportunity to either get acquainted or re-acquainted with folks here.  It is surprising how many people we know!

Our kids are enjoying their new life here too.  The neighbourhood is a lot different than anything we’ve ever lived in before.  Neighbourhood kids came to the door looking for our kids to play with them.  That’s never happened before.  There are a lot of kids on our cul-de-sac!

So, we are getting settled in here.  There’s a lot that needs to be done, but the Lord has been merciful till now.  We have much for which to be thankful.
